It’s the most wonderful time of the year

What do you call a Christmas elf that sings? A wrapper!

After a year of seemingly endless uncertainties, the annual cheer has finally arrived. With homes decked with lights and clad in colors of red and green, it is finally time for us to unmask that jolly Christmas spirit!

2020 was rough to say the very least. The similarities between us and Santa Claus were uncanny. Just like him in his North Pole we were isolated from other people only to fully emerge during the last couple of months. With that emergence, and especially as of late, came a sudden hope and bashfulness that contrasted against the gloom of the preceding months. But why are people so much happier during the Festive Season?

According to a study published in The New York Times, there are several reasons, but one of the main reasons is that we spend more time interacting with our friends and family on these holidays and, as it turns out, doing so is a robustly positive predictor of our happiness. Not to mention the great Christmas songs to go along with it.

Although this year might have had slightly more downs than ups, it can still end on a high note, whether that is time with loved ones or the literal high note in Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas”.

So may you have a wonderful summer Christmas, a fantastic New Year, and may your bells always jingle all the way.
