I would like to introduce you to my newest storybook, which was done in a collaboration between myself, the Cape Leopard Trust, and the illustrator Judy Maré.

This 68-page book is divided into three sections. The first part is the story of Leeto the leopard, who goes on a hunt… for a friend. The second part (12 pages) is a fact section compiled by the Cape Leopard Trust and the final section (16 pages) is a funfilled activity and game section (suitable for the whole family) with leopard and conservation inspired activities. The book is aimed at ages 6-12 years old and is very versatile in its use. From a home-storybook to a classroom resource and rainy weather or camping companion, you will find both entertainment and education in this book.

I loved writing the story of Leeto and imagining his path through the Fynbos along with all the characters he meets, as he was looking for a friend. Leopards have, for a long time, been one of my favourite animals. They are iconic, but also secretive and although they are always high on my list of animals to see, they usually successfully avoid me. It is no wonder that a large part of Cape Leopard Trust’s research on the leopards in the Fynbos biome depends on the use of trail- and motion detection cameras. You can go check out their work or contact them to donate to their worthy cause at the Cape Leopard Trust Homepage by clicking on the link. The Cape Leopard Trust.

The book is available in English and Afrikaans and additionally, on the Cape Leopard Trust website, the book is available in isiXhosa, sign language, audiobooks and braille.
